In the bachelor’s thesis work titled Development of paste for textile printing with turmeric and creating a sustainable organizer, a biodegradable printing paste and sustainable home products printed with the paste were created.
The development of the pattern collection for kitchen textiles followed the production of a printing paste, whose yellow color comes from the pigment of turmeric, a well-known spice in many kitchens. First I chose the ingredients; fruits and vegetables from the fridge and from the garden. With the help of the photographs of the ingredients, monochrome drawings were created, which summarize the texture and essence of the ingredient in flat graphics. Then patterns were created and printed on the linen fabric with the 100 % biodegradable printing paste, that we created with chitosan and turmeric pigment.

The products are part of a thesis under the supervision of prof. Katja Burger Kovič and co-mentoring of prof. dr. Marija Gorjanc.
